Extract from the Diary of Mallika Kaul Gomes :-Recently I was again in Room 416, it’s a small unremarkable room, yet it holds remarkable lingering memories. It was 26 April 2009, early hours, I was being rushed in an ambulance to Al Salam Hospital from Salwa, I couldn’t breathe and I was losing consciousness. On reaching the hospital Dr Lalarukh was there, she took charge and I was being wheeled somewhere – my last words before I lost complete consciousness were “I don’t want to die”. So be it, Dr Lalarukh saved my life, I continue to be eternally grateful to her. After I was stabilized in the ICU, I was transferred to Room 416. I can never have enough words to thank Dr Lalarukh, the ICU nurses, and the Fourth (4th) floor nurses who saved my life. Later I was diagnosed with gene- mutated Polyglandular Autoimmune Disorder. Dr Lalarukh had the courage to fight for a patient’s life, I had never interacted with her, God’s grace that she was there. A note for all autoimmune patients – usually the diagnoses takes a while, several doctors want to put the unexplained readings in a black box of Stress, don’t ever give up, don’t ever victimize yourself, and don’t ever stop doing professional work & voluntary work to help others, the diseases don’t define you, it’s your soulful spirit, and determination that defines you. I am happy that Dr Lalarukh gave me a new lease of life. My husband has never stopped me from physically or intellectually challenging myself, he has been a constant source of strength through my action packed life – professionally and medically. The commitment of Al Salam Hospital to quality of care for all patients continues.

It is one of the best and most effective physiotherapies I have ever experienced whether in the Government or Private Hospitals. I have tried most of them, and I have never found a physiotherapy better than that is provided by the physiotherapist (Kasper Cobben).
